This past weekend in Atibaia, Sao Paulo, Brazil, Boca Raton FC held its first Camp Boca Raton. The four-day spring clinic was attended by 50 local children and included teaching from superstar Brazilian footballers Amoroso, Amaral, Luizao and Aloisio. The success of the clinic is a big win for the local south Florida community.
The event provided an excellent showcase for Boca Raton, the state of Florida, and the growing footprint of soccer in the United States. The camp is the first in what is planned to be a series of events held by the club abroad helping to promote Boca Raton, south Florida, opportunities for kids at local colleges and universities as well as American soccer.
The camp was structured by uniting the knowledge of world-class technical coordinators, the experience of established players, the excellent structure of the Bourbon Resort , the organization and efficiency of a US-based club which runs in a professional manner and the foundation of one of the greatest stars of Brazilian football, Amoroso whose association with Boca Raton FC has helped to grow the profile of both the club and American soccer. The camp focuses on teaching soccer fundamentals to youngsters and educating them about opportunities in the United States.
The attendees spent four days training and learning about the sport and were taught about the soccer system in the US. Also, a video was shown about the Boca Raton are and the great educational opportunities in the area. This was presented with an eye toward helping the attendees to consider possibly moving to Florida or applying to a local university as an international student.
Camp Boca Raton’s success this past weekend provides the opportunity for the club to expand these opportunities to other cities in Brazil as well as other locales outside the United States. Each camp will promote Boca Raton as well as the lifestyle and educational opportunities provided in southern Florida. The camp was attended by many members of the media – both written press/bloggers and television personalities.
Planning has begun for the next Camp Boca Raton, and details on that event will be forthcoming in the near future.
