BOCA RATON, FL — Boca Raton Football Club is proud to announce that Fernando Valenzuela has joined the club as its new Head Coach.
Valenzuela originally was scheduled to begin with Boca Raton FC during the 2020 Season, but that season was cut short due to COVID-19.
“We have been ecstatic to add someone of Fernando’s caliber to the club,” said Club President, Douglas Heizer. “Fernando brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in local soccer to the club.”
Valenzuela is currently the Athletic Director at the University of Fort Lauderdale.
Before taking over at the University of Fort Lauderdale he led the Conquistadors of Florida National University as their Athletic Director and Head Men’s Soccer Coach to 2 back-to-back National Championships in 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons. Having 4 of his proteges go on to play professionally in the USL Championship.
Valenzuela’s Florida National team was ranked in the top 10 in the nation 3 out of his 4 years at FNU. All while adding 11 sports and 400 students to its athletic department as their Athletic Director and putting FNU on the map as a great program to contend with.
Before FMU he also coached at St. Thomas University’s Men’s Soccer where he also led the STU Bobcats to be ranked 19th in the nation.
Valenzuela was also the Head Coach of Floridians FC from 2015 till 2017.
He has also been very active in the community coaching at the youth levels in the Palm Beach area for Florida Youth Soccer Clubs since 1994.
“I’m excited to join Boca Raton FC as its newest head coach,” says Valenzuela. “Boca Raton FC has a rich history of winning championships and I am delighted to have been added to this tradition. I am looking forward to the 2021 NPSL and PASL seasons with the club as we contend for a championship.”
Under Valenzuela’s leadership so far in the 2021 preseason, Boca Raton FC is 3-0, outscoring their opponents 12-3.
