BOCA RATON, FL — Boca Raton Football Club is excited to announce the signing of Brazilian national Leandro Netto.
Born in Rio de Janeiro, Netto began his senior career with Corinthians before moving to Atlético Paranaense in the Série A where he made 20 appearances and scored one goal during the 1999 season.
With the exception of one year in Serbia in the First League of FR Yugoslavia, and a few months in Spain with Deportivo de La Coruña’s reserves, Netto spent his first eight years as a professional in Portugal. In 2009 Netto took his talents to China where he helped the newly promoted Chinese Super League side Henan Jianye F.C. to third place in 2009.
“I’m excited to be a part of Boca Raton FC and all the work they are doing for soccer in the South Florida,” says Netto. “Boca Raton is a world-class city and the club has grown tremendously in just two years.”
Netto spent three years with Henan Jianye F.C., where he ranked among the Chinese Super League’s Top Scorers all three season. In 101 appearances, the Brazilian was able to find the back of the net 37 times.
“We are are excited to have a player of Netto’s caliber join Boca Raton FC,” said president Douglas Heizer. “Once again it shows how Boca Raton FC is being talked about among the soccer circles around the world and Netto’s arrival for our Fall Season is a tremendous boost for our club.”
Already have been cleared to play in Saturday’s game versus Boynton Beach Hurricanes FC, Netto wasted no time opening up his APSL account by scoring one goal and assisting on two others.
“It was great to be able to score in my first game with the club,” added Netto. “I hope I can continue to help this club win not only games but championships during my time here.”
