On Sunday afternoon Boca Raton Football Club defeated Red Force FC 5-0 at Tropical Park.

“This was a great game for us,” says head coach Pedro Yunes. “We are coming along well this season and this game just showed that we have the firepower to play with all the teams in this league.”

Both clubs were evenly matched in the first half, both had decent shots on goal but Boca Raton FC’s stingy defense was able to preserve the 0-0 scoreline at the half.

In the second half, Boca Raton got in the scoring side early when Nickardo Blake ran down the left side of the field to cross the ball into Xavier Silva’s head who placed it just out of the reach of the keeper.

Two minutes later, Colby Burdette headed another one home (his first of the season) off a corner kick to give the visiting team the 2-0 lead.

In his first game with Boca Raton FC, Luizão was crucial in the third Boca Raton goal. The 29-year-old’s perfectly-timed cross from the backline to a wide open Silva gave the visitors the 3-0 lead.

Jason Fitzgerald also opened up his 2016 account in this game after Blake once again exploited Red Force’s leftback to beat him to a cross that Fitzgerald coolly brought down and fired it home to give Boca the 4-0 lead.

As time was set to expire, Giovanni DiMauro put the nail in the coffin and Boca Raton left Miami with a 5-0 win.

“We continue to get better every game,” said Fitzgerald. “We didn’t start the season as well as we wanted to but we are catching momentum at the right time and getting a 5-0 win like this is a great confidence boost for us as a club.”

With two games less than the rest of the club, Boca Raton (2-1-1) sits in 5th place in the APSL standings.
