Earlier today, the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) released the Conference Best XI selections for its 13 conferences.
Captain, and veteran midfielder, Carlos Meneses got the nod for Boca Raton FC in the Sunshine Conference Best XI. Meneses was one of two players selected not from Miami FC, Jacksonville Armada, or Miami United FC. Teams, media, fans, and supporters were all part of the online voting process.
With stints in first division clubs in Venezuela such as Deportivo Tachira, Zamora FC, Vigia FC, Union Átlético Maracaibo, and Atlético Bucaramanga, the Boca Raton playmaker is the most experienced player on the team, and was featured in eights matches for Boca Raton FC in 2018, logging 637 minutes, scoring two goals and recording two assists. In two NPSL seasons with Boca Raton, Meneses has logged 1,134 minutes, the most most NPSL minutes in club history.
“I’m very thankful to the fans, the team, and the media for selecting me to the Sunshine Conference Best XI,” said Meneses. “All season our club played hard to make our city proud and we became brothers on and off the field. This award might be individual, but without head coach Jim Rooney and the rest of our team I would not have been given this honor.”
“We are very proud of Carlos and all his hard work he’s put into the 2018 season,” added Boca Raton FC president, Douglas Heizer. “Carlos is the staple of Boca Raton FC pride and seeing the rest of the league give him credit for it is very special.”
As a Conference XI winner, Meneses is now in the running for Region XI. The pool for each Region XI ise determined by the Conference XI teams. Teams, media, and fans will vote online to determine each Region XI between July 16 and July 18.
Despite finishing the NPSL season, Boca Raton FC has now shifted its focus to the American Premier Soccer League, where the club will look to win its third APSL Championship in four years.
