Boca Raton, FL – In their first match in the American Premiers Soccer League, Boca Raton Football Club defeated South Florida Football Club 4-1 in front of an APSL-record 516 fans at The Shipyard (Boca Raton HS Stadium).
After going down 1-0 in the first half, Boca Raton FC regrouped in the second half, and with 15 minutes remaining in the game scored four unanswered goals to take the 4-1 victory.
Braxton Fuster scored the first goal in Boca Raton FC History with 14 minutes left in the match after a Stefano Bontempo header found his feet.
From there, not ever 30 seconds later, former Lynn University standout, Gabe Taboada raced down the field and scored Boca Raton’s game-winner.
“We talked about this at the half,” said Taboada after the game. “We needed that one goal and from there we knew we had what it took to win the game.”
Boca Raton High School’s All-Time Goalscorer, Colby Burdette also scored, giving Boca Raton FC the 3-1 lead, and Hassani Sinclair gave Boca it’s fourth goal in stoppage time to seal the 4-1 victory.
“The crowd tonight was fantastic,” said head coach Marcelo Castillo. “They were loud from start to finish and we fed off their energy.”
Boca Raton’s 516 fans was an APSL record this season.
Boca Raton FC now has a bye week before playing Miami Dade FC at The Shipyard on May 15, at 8pm. Tickets can be purchased at www.bocaratonfc.com/tickets.
